What is shoulder pain?
An injury in the shoulder or any disease can cause shoulder pain. The shoulder is at high risk for injury as an extremely mobile joint that plays a central role in the action of a major extremity such as the arm.
Cartilage, ligaments or tendons surrounding the shoulder joint, cartilage, or joints of the bone can be involved in an injury. Shoulder pain can also occur due to diseases or conditions involving the shoulder joints. Soft tissues, bones surrounding the shoulder and nerves supplying sensation in the shoulder area can also cause shoulder pain.
